UC Davis Fire Dept. - PulsePoint PSA

For more than five years, the UC Davis Fire Department has used a mobile app to alert those who are CPR-certified of nearby emergencies where they might be able to help until first responders arrive.

Now, the department has a new video explaining how it works. Watch the above video for more information about the app, PulsePoint.

Hip-hop royalty visits UC Davis last week, but not for a concert. GZA, a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan who also performs under the name The Genius, spoke May 21 about using hip-hop rhymes to educate students about complex scientific topics. The event, part of the Chancellor's Colloquium series, was presented in collaboration with UC Davis’ John Muir Institute of the Environment and new OneClimate initiative.

Three commencements down...

The first three spring commencements are in the books: The schools of Law and Medicine held ceremonies May 19, and the School of Veterinary Medicine held its ceremony Saturday (May 26).

Watch scenes from the School of Law commencement — which featured a keynote address from Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye, chief justice of the California Supreme Court and a UC Davis law alumna — in the above video.

Commencement season also brings our annual contest to choose the best decorated grad caps. The submission period is now open, and members of the public will be able to vote for their favorites starting June 18.
