Students must file to graduate with the Office of the University Registrar in order to officially graduate from UC Davis. Filing to graduate is necessary for your degree to be awarded and to get your diploma. If you have questions about your degree requirements or eligibility to graduate, see an advisor in the office of your College Dean.
Manage how your public information is shared. If you have designated your student record as All Records Confidential, meaning that you have withheld all information about yourself from public disclosure by the university, your name will not appear in the College Commencement Program. If you have this designation and would like your name to be published in the College Commencement Program, please contact the Office of Ceremonies and Special Events.
Verify how your name will appear on your diploma
Your current legal name, as it is on file with the Office of the University Registrar, will appear on your diploma. If your legal name has changed or is misspelled, visit the Office of the University Registrar page to request changes.
Please note: This is the only option for updating your academic record.
How will your name appear in the Commencement Program?
Your current legal name, as it is on file with the Office of the University Registrar, will appear in the College Commencement Program. If you would like your Preferred Name and/or Name In Use printed, please contact Ceremonies and Special Events.

You may have your diploma mailed to you when it is ready, four months after the end of the quarter in which you completed your degree requirements. If you choose not to have it mailed, please contact the Office of the University Registrar at (530) 752-3639 before visiting to ensure the diploma is ready. Remember, they take a minimum of four months to prepare. Please see the Office of the University Registrar for details about diplomas listed under Academic Records.
A certificate commemorating the ceremony is presented to each participant at commencement.
